ΔYNAMIS – “Alosis 1453 (Psalm 78)”

from kostas Karantzounis

‘Alosis 1453’ is the fifth song of the ΔYNAMIS project, composed by Bob Katsionis and Christopher Laskos, from the debut album ‘Byzantine Metal’, recorded at Sound Symmetry Studio, Athens. The song is a musical rendition of the first verses of Psalm 78(79) from the Book of Psalms, the text of which has a significant symbolic correspondence with the historical event of the Fall of Constantinople in 1453 AD. The psalm is attributed to Asaph (a disciple of the prophet David) and describes the fall and desecration of soul and body by demons, as well as the impatience for help and mercy from God. As a song, it is a mournful lament, an epitaph for the Great City of Constantinople and the Byzantine Empire. ΔYNAMIS, from the greek word “δύναμις” means power, authority, strength. ΔYNAMIS logos and cross-shaped seal designed by Christopher Laskos, inspired by Byzantine Music Notation (a system over a thousand years old, derived from the Greek alphabet, using signs for the perfect expression of monophonic music). The following words, “δυναμις, Christopher Laskos, Bob Katsionis, byzantine metal,” are formed by combining these signs of the chanting art.
